Sinister: big everything posting

so for the first time in the history of my having e-mail (6 years now) i've been charmed into adding a signature to my e-mails. it's by richard, and i won't tell you what it is, i'll just let you scroll down to the bottom of this message and see it. so i'm back and mostly recovered from the Seamus Goes On A Big Trip To New York trip. a brief Harper's style listing of some of my accomplishments: number of states i'd been in before/after the trip: 3/7 number of time zones: 1/4 number of airports: 2/4 number of different models of airplanes: 2/4 number of list members i'd met: 1/(roughly) 30 the only dissapointment for the trip was that the nov 1 tickets i tried to buy from a helpful listee didn't show up at my house until nov 2, due to their being misaddressed. but on the other hand i got four nice souvenirs out of the deal. other than that the trip was a whirlwind of entertainment and, well, alcohol. the nov 2 show was marvellous, though to be perfectly honest, i thought that eugene kelley was no good at all, which is a shame as the vaselines were ace. especially the split live cassette they did with beat happening. afterwards i went with my friend max and new list aquaintance megan to the kordova milk bar and met laurel and rachel and JJ and goon and stasia and francisco and a bunch of other listees, mostly british, whose names i am rude anough to fail to remember. and dorigen, who is apparently no longer on the list but is a very nice girl, even if she did leave my card on the bar. i went to bryn mawr several days later to visit a friend and see dub narcotic, that was also a very nice time. new jersey, despite being the "armpit of america", was quiet beautiful. except where there were cities. i also went to a bit of cmj; i missed the wonderful mercury rev (let me say it again: buy "deserter's songs" and you will be a happier person) but i caught the triumphant k records showcase. any listees in attendance there? funny how i travelled over 2000 miles away from olympia to hang out with my friends from... olympia. later that night i caught a 4 am cornelius show in a very small and very crowded room. when i returned i had nearly 700 sinister messages to go through... it took me three days to catch up and another three days to actually get down to writing this message. i had more to say but it's slipped away. it was a wonderful trip and i hope to meet all the listees again in the near future... maybe on the west coast tour... seamus "Okay then basically what I'm saying is, go out and buy the entire pastels back catalogue an anorak and a bowl cut and be dangerous." -- Richard +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
