I will admit it--I found someone to tape me the entire Field Mice discography since I was too young and foolish to buy the records when they were actually in print. The cassettes are right now residing in an honoured position near the stereo--oh, right next to my tape of _Tigermilk_. Imagine that! And I can not think of any other band, indiepop or otherwise, that sounds much like Belle and Sebastian. Oh, maybe a snippet here and there, but Belle and Sebastian are much more singular in general.
