In the spirit of caring and sharing (rather than naming and shaming, which is often as much fun), I think Arantxa's chosen solution to her wee problem is pretty, erm, logical. We've all been in vulnerable positions like that (boys as well as girls, me just twice so far) when instead of obsessing on the ramifications of the book/villain/whatever, it would be better to know how to avoid situations like that in the future. Girls generally are more streetwise than boys, but boys as we know will often try to take all the credit for everything. In the wise words of Preston's Kaleida, it's a case of 'Knowing Who Your Friends Are'.
