Re: Sinister: the wreck of the ella fitzgerald
Hey sini-brothers and sinisisters. how goes the fight. Anyone in the US will agree that we're inundated with jokes about Florida, the election and the presidency.. ah. Hurm. If only I could work in europe. any one wanna let me borrow 1.749 million dollars? E-bay is auctioning off an Scottish estate, it *is* in aberdeenshire so I think that's why the asking price is so low :) just kiddin'......kinda. I've never been able to decipher who my list crush was. Ah well. that's okay. I appreciate the vote of confidence as it is. Hmmm.. B&S content. I listened to FYHCYWLAP yesterday, twice. that's about all I've got. Sadly I don't have classes with chris or share pints with stuart.. I had to respond to keith mclachlan who said:
pitchfork reviewed the gentle waves album and predictably trashed it, i laugh at their claim to professionalism.
They don't really claim to be professional. They write about what they want. Their claims of professionality stem from the fact that a bunch of 20-something slackers run the site, don't get paid but have the new update everyday. Be nice. They're very nice people. i am anxiously awaiting their best
of the year list with nonrepentant bores like shellac, modest mouse and radiohead riding high.
I just can't let this go. Modest Mouse is one of the most interesting and intelligent bands to come round in a long time. (I don't think any fan of B&S has the right to call ANY band boring I mean I love them cause they're beautiful and witty but they're pretty slow and unexciting)And Shellac flat-out rock. it's nice to turn up your speakers once in a while and when you do it's good to have a band that's as talented as Shellac rockin' out rather then having to listen to Staind or Korn, for years i wouldn't rock out cause I didn't like those ignorant bands.. then I found the Archers of Loaf, Seam, Shellac, Unwound, loud doesn't always = bad. Again it helps with Shellac that they're smarty pants too... and I wouldn't be so quick to take the piss out of radiohead. how many bands do you know that have sold millions and millions of records have then put out a record like KidA. It's boring yeah, but it's very noncommercial and certainly not what a large majority of their "fans" would expect or want.... Now if you meant to say boors when then I wouldn't argue too too much. :) but really that's the best part about music it's all so subjective! ah. pleasant day to everyone. jb _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
