Sinister: Isn't it funny how a bear likes honey...
Sorry for bombarding your inboxes, babydolls, but I have just found a very special childhood book, the Pooh Cook Book, filled with winnie the pooh stuff. As I have come to see you guys as the extended family I never had, I thought I would intimately share with you the recipe I remember best as a child. Kirsten Kenyon said: "I'm the same as when I was eight years old", well, I'm pretty much the same as when I was four. You should all make these, (especially a certain list mummy for her namesake) they are scrummy. HONEY COOKIES 8oz/8 rounded tablespoons of self raising flour pinch of salt 4oz/115g butter (don't let me see you touch the margarine) 4oz/115g/4 rounded tblsps. of soft brown sugar 1 solitary egg 1 generous tablespoon of HONEY. Mmm...maybe a little more... few drops of vanilla essence. Oven preheated at 180 deg.C Sift flour and salt onto plate. Beat butter and sugar until soft. Cruelly crack the lone egg into a little bowl with vanilla essence and mix slightly, then gradually beat it into the butter mix. (another childhood memory: the butter and sugar mix is really nice, I would dip your finger in before you put in the egg) Add the flour to the butter/sugar/egg mixture, half at a time. Spoon out rounded teaspoons of mixture and roll into little balls. Put them on greased tray, about 6-8 at a time, and squidge them down a bit with your fingers. Put them in the oven for 12 minutes. This is good because when your friends come round you can eat the first ones and by the time you've finished there are some more hot ones to come out. But they are very hot so if you are not already a grown-up, get one to help you. They are best eaten with a glass of milk but if you are a grown-up they make great comfort food with a mug of hot milk with honey and whiskey in. Also, great for picnics. Winnie the pooh picnics, wouldn't Mr. Swells be pleased... Kisses Corduroy boy Tom P.S. Jeanette, I am having those photos developed as I write, watch this space darlin'! +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org.
