Well, it's another day in Sinisterland... Things certainly have been *active* the past few days. I got several shows in the mail the past 4 days, in fact, one a day if you average it out. So far the crown jewel of them all has to be Boston. There's a very well-preserved version of Lord Anthony on it, too bad I don't think it's any better than any of the other songs on the tape. I am pleased that "Wrong Love" was played at the show, though. It seems that no one ever mentions B&S to people who wear their shirts. My friend Matt complimented me on it just the other day, but I'm not entirely sure he's heard them, I think he just genuinely liked the Stuy-at-Stow stylings. See, I wear my Smiths shirt and bam, a waitress compliments me on it. But B&S? No... "Selling a lot of them," indeed. And badges, did I mention I wear my badge every day I wear my coat? Then again, no one has come up to me and said "Oh I love #Poundsign#!" so maybe badges aren't as attracting as shirts. Speaking of which... Dave said:
I don't wear ill-fitting baggyass pants, nor do I like the hideous funk-metal that all the 'cool' people like. And I read more than I watch TV. I also think and draw.. how unhip! someone > tune this boy into the fab world of American Culture! isn't he a foaming anarchist pop-punk? Does he not hate his parents and everything else? Why won't he buy $25 shirts that tell everyone he likes a band enough to pay them to wear their advertisments?
Um, actually I don't think people usually buy band shirts to advertise the band, I personally buy mine so that maybe someone in this town has a similar music taste, and if they do I'd like to meet them, so maybe they'll say hi. People who *used* to live here are on this list, but Athens, Ohio is not a hotbed of Belle & Sebastian-ism, at least not that I'm aware of. Anyway, I believe what you're thinking of here is Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. shirts, which are essentially advertisements. Ailsa Ross had some lovely arguments, didn't she? I think so, anyway. I used to try and argue about music being subjective, but it sounds as if people didn't like that, when I did. I suppose people like thinking what they listen to is "better," and it makes them feel good about themselves. And yes, they said it couldn't be done, but yes, "Sensitive Stan" and "Tami Popsickle" have broken the world's most boring post record, previously held by...oh look, a cardinal... Anyway, this is proof that if you're going to make up an imaginary listee, it doesn't make up for not being funny. Let this be a lesson to you all. Thank you, and good night. /"\_/"\_/"\ Mick McMick/Sandcastle Records <<->> bp224996@ohiou.edu \ / Sandcastle Records Homepage: ICQ#5056758 | | http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Amphitheatre/4972/ | | "I am always wishing to make people | | in the world happy with my smiles." | | -Mr. Friendly +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". Hmm, seems like a difference of opinion here Geoffrey, I thought they were both hilarious. Well funny, indeed the first Sensitive Stan thing was one of the funniest things I've read on the list in a while. Full marks for taking the piss - whoever it is. It's not me neither by the way.
