I don't think Sleep the Clock Around sounds like Stereolab at all. The climactic bit at the end is reminiscent of mid-late period James (Ring the Bells, etc), and the vocal tune is a speeded up version of New Order's classic 1963. It was January, 1963... Sing it at twice the speed, and there you have it. Does anyone have the 7 inch single by Even As We Speak where they do their version of Bizarre Love Triangle? It works at both 33rpm and 45rpm. Squarepusher thinks he's so clever, but he isn't really! Looking forward to reading about the chat. Can't make it: too much work, yawn, etc. I asked a guy in Ladbrokes if they were taking bets on Modern Rock Song being Number One, and I got a weird look in return. Oh well.
