Bonjour la liste,
i reckon most b&s songs were written in sunny weather, they sound warm to me
Hey, this is extremely true. They sound like lying on your back in the sun, in a park, where there are quite improbably no ghetto- blasters blasting rap-songs near you, and thinking of complicated, but very harmless nonsense... and this brings me to a (very) late follow-up to the question of the difference between B&S and Tindersticks music: they are both warm, but Tindersticks is the warmth of sitting inside, staring at the chimney fire and sipping some expensive alcoholic drink while there is a major snowstorm going on outside; while B&S is the warmth of a sunny day, sitting on a blanket in a park, sipping some non- expensive, non-alcoholic drink, and so on (see above). B&S is a summer band and Tindersticks a winter-band. Too bad that Tindersticks' new album is due to release in August... Good that this problem is solved now. But there still is another problem: why are there so many B&S fans who are also Pulp fans, like myself? I cannot see that these 2 have anything in common, except that the music is extremely good. Please help. Oh, and I recruited my first B&S fan! I am proud. But I must admit it was very easy: she was a Nick Drake fan already. Being a fan of Nick Drake and never hearing of B&S: what a terrible fate. Like being catholic and never having heard of the pope. But who is still catholic, nowadays. Ironic sigh. Good in theory but you forget that they live in scotland, the place of rain and cloud. They saw the sun once and thought the sky was on fire. Only joking (or am i?) Oh come on, don't be such an extremist, Richard. They live in Scotland, yeah, but Scotland gets hot, too! Why were all those kids from Trainspotting running around in tiny little t-shirts? Eh? You can't fool us yanks! Next thing I know you're going to tell me heroin makes you sweat! Ciao, By the way, my bosses name is Richard Correll, so every time I see one of your postings, I think my boss is writing me to assign me work from the Sinister list. http://student-www.uchicago.edu/users/asbuch/index.htm#hometop Heather Marie Propes asbuch@midway.uchicago.edu On Tue, 16 Mar 1999, Richard Connell wrote:

Well yes, but on these grounds, Mick from B+S once said something that made me think about the situation. It's dead rainy in Glasgow, much more so than here in Edinburgh, despite the two cities being pretty close, this is cause Glasgow gets the rainshadow effect from the islands. Mick figured that basically cause of it always raining, that people just stayed in their bedrooms and wrote songs. I doubt there's much truth in any of these things. It's defintely something in the water. It's not the people who write the songs anyway, it's the pixies, who come around at night and put great songs underneath peoples pillows. Only last night I found "London Nights" by the London Boys jammed under my pillow. Trust me to get a song that someone else had already written! Discovered last night that on Virgin radio around about midnight, it's "Ooooh" Gary Davies! Cheers, Keith. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
