'Way To Blue' is indeed a fine introduction to Nick Drake, though it's worth looking for the best of that came out in the mid-80s, it's got a slightly better selection of songs. If you're buying his albums, bear in mind that 'Pink Moon' is almost totally acoustic (none of those lovely arrangements that you get on 'Bryter Later' and 'Five Leaves Left'. My personal favourites: 'Hazy Jane' (perhaps the only song ever to mention weasels), 'At The Chime Of A City Clock' and 'Northern Skies' (another song that I first heard thanks to Stuart Maconie). PS/Did you know that Nick Drake's sister appeared in the later series' of 'Crossroads'? "All we've done since we got here is drink wine and screw," "What do you suggest?" "Tomorrow let's pray for beer!" +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
