RE: Sinister: Belle and Sebastian Quiz
How'd I do? Katrina - bored at work :) [Keith Watson] Join the club! It's looking to quite a few people that the B+S mailing list is a "bored at work" club... It certainly brightens up my day - replaces Steve Wright in the Afternoon as a source of entertainment, so a big shout to anyone out there who's BORED AT WORK! ...And yet another closet sciver emerges from the closet - when feeling particularly lacklustre in the office, and when there are no B&S messages to while away the hours, I have a beachball which provides me with infinite entertainment. Sadly I don't have a basketball net, or a beach for that matter, but I can now do about 40 keepie-uppies. Anyone who fancies a game is more than welcome to join me. As long as you're not better than me... Cheers, Nicola -- Nicola M Stip / Blue Music www.stip.demon.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . It brightens my day too, quite good therapy.Certainly better than Steve Wright, although it's a shame we don't get to hear his sarcastic comments about Belle and Sebastian. I clearly remember them all taking the piss out of Denim, obviously totally dumbfounded by it. My brother's a bit like that, laughs at everything he doesn't understand (which is most things). The Popcorn question was prompted by a Cd of seventies goodies, including Candlewick Green, that I saw the other day. Might well snap it up. Good for the soul. Apart from being a bored at work club, the list also serves as a coming to terms with growing up in the seventies club. There was a great German documentary about the seventies on TV a while back. Great stuff, Mud on TOTP dancing with a load of fans on stage, all doing that hands on your hips dance, as featured in the Pulp video for Common People, combined with some very heavy stuff about German terrorists. That's neat, that's neat, that's neat, that's neat...... Peter who used to go to school with the son of Malcolm "Duke" Allured (of Showaddywaddy fame)'s son, who was a real new romantic, used to take a huge ghetto blaster to school and listen to Duran Duran doing his homework. He later starred in a Channel Four documentary called "The Sex Hunters" about a group of campsite disco bouncers who tried to get off with all the girls. They kept score with a little Scalextric track. Did anybody see it? Is our Duke related to this Duke? He owns two or three crap pubs and North West Leicestershire's finest rural discotheque. Aaah, great days, great days. Best forgotten, I think. At that time Stephen Duffy was called Tintin, and everybody loved him. Belle and Sebastian have got as many members as Showaddywaddy, but no-one called Caesar Romeo. Have I got away with it? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Yes yes, but do please recognise your 'Growing Up In The Eighties' subcontingent... shed a tear for those of us who: (a) lived thru New Romantic without being able to remember it (b) were born in a bad hair *decade* (c) lived our entire lives until this year under the Tories (d) are less than half the age of a large proportion of our favourite records ;-) Kate [bored in her own home, ta] xxx "love is...being able to go to the library with someone else" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . i would love to say that i had kept score of all the girls i got off with in campsites or otherwise on a Scalextric track, but sadly must inform you that i would be struggling to get past the warm up/formation lap. And then i'd probably stall on the grid or be shunted off the track by some trendy type sporting the latest in ribbed ticklers. It is a sad and cruel world we inhabit, and no mistake.

Tintin! ah those were the days indeed. Ho ho. We danced on the tables in art and sang Altered Images songs til we nearly burst our lungs. We wore tukka boots and legwarmers without a trace of irony. Even the boys. Especially the boys...
Have I got away with it?

I'm another bored at uni I'm afraid. We don't even start lectures until Thursday, and I'm too ill to enjoy freshers' week properly (can I have some sympathy now please? Cheers!). Until you've been properly bored, you can't begin to understand the entertainment value of reading another e-mail about Wallace & Gromit merchandise or the children of members of Shawaddywaddy. Can I be the first person to ask if anyone can offer accomodation in Manchester in December whenever these gigs are? Floor space will do fine... Well, I might have if my parents consent, but I suspect they would prefer it if it were people I actually know :) - me being a still-dependent young thing and all. Will get back to you all on this one though b'cause we *do* have a spare room..................... [meanwhile, if you're anyone I do know slightly better who might want to be there, get in touch- you know who you are] Love, Kate xxx ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
