as an update to the recent news in the nme and on nme.com, we would like to make a correction to their story and clarify the situation. it was reported that, contrary to rumours, stuart david (bass player) had not left belle and sebastian and was not considering doing so. the real situation is virtually the opposite of what was reported. stuart david has left belle and sebastian as a full time member and will not be playing live with the band in future. he will now be concentrating on looper and will still have links with belle & sebastian (including playing with them at the forthcoming recording of the john peel session for radio 1) and shall occasionally work with them in the studio. effectively, stuart david has chosen to spend more time developing his writing and work with looper and this has been amicably received by the other members of belle and sebastian.
