bonjour chaps and chapesses, wowie, at last i met some real live sinister types, and very nice they were too. and i'm not talking about you're run-of-the-mill sinister types here, oh no. for it was a gathering of legends unseen since the days of mount olympus . . . well, perhaps not, but nearly. so hello again everyone who was there, and thank you for not being thirty stone moustachioed men with bad personal hygiene and funny teeth (not that there's anything wrong with being a thirty stone moustachioed man with bad personal hygiene and funny teeth. . .). ooh, and the aislers set were grate. but they didn't have any badges, so boo. but i did manage to record the gig with the help of a microphone borrowed off the band (i must be the worst bootlegger in the history of bootlegging. i had to ask the band if i could borrow a mike :)), so if any of the kids who were so nice and didn't eat me would like a copy just e-mail me off list . . . it's the sunniest day ever today. and i'm listening to the trembling blue stars thinking that i've soon got to get some books to write an essay (the last essay i'll ever have to write. apart from exams but they don't count). i'm also thinking that my field mice/sarah records obsession is getting all out of control and if i'm not careful i won't have any money left to go on holiday and my friends would kill me. with spoons. here comes the obligatory ian-asking-about-bands bit . . . i'm thinking i might purchase a serge gainsbourg album or two cos some were rereleased a while back on 10" vinyl, which is surely the best size any record can be (those who understand my love of the number ten and my belief that all things musical should involve 10 will appreciate this. look at it this way: the (every-so-slightly obvious) 10 felt albums and 10 felt eps in 10 years. every go-betweens album with 10 tracks. the best two b&s album having 10 tracks. the fact that most good albums which have more than 10 tracks would be classics if the band had actually only put 10 on in the first place, eg ooberman and hefner.) enough about the number 10, though, and back to my orginal point. could anyone recommend the poppiest serge album please? i've just realised that in one paragraph i whinged about spending too much and now i'm asking about spending more. ah, the life of a student. . . okey dokey, i'd better go and write (THE LAST BLUDDY EVER) essay, ian. +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org.
