It seems a lot of what i read on the list is of total uninterest,

I feel a bit reminded on Holden in "The Catcher Int The Rye", when he complained that his teacher encouraged his students to shout "Off-topic" (or something down that line) when the kid who was giving a talk started to talk about something different to the self chosen subject.
