Re: Sinister: Kinks & Belle Ray DaviES & Stuart DaviD (band similarities)
ok the first time i ever heard belle & sebastian, this subject came up in my mind so its about time i discuss it with others. belle & sebastian (especially the vocals) sounds like the early 70s kinks. ray davies(head singer)'s voice is remarkably similar to stuart murdock's. anyone else agree? especially the songs: "Sitting in my hotel" & "celluloid heroes" off the out-of-print-soon-to-be-re- released "Everybody's in Showbiz" LP that i snatched used at the local record store. cheers. -a.james ---
I totally agree...It's hard for me to see it now, but when I first heard Belle & Sebastian..that was my impression, completely. I got hooked, and after a few listens I stopped thinking about it tho..but yeah....you're right. My ex HATED Stuart's voice and once, when I was having the most blissfull nap (you know..when you actually *fall* asleep with with that lovely voice in your head...) he turned off the tape and it went !!SNAP!! and I popped up and went "what duh?" and he said "I can't take it anymore..that Ray Davies guy is making me violent. This is why he is an EX. :) beth ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. .
