Sinister: Electronic Mail Renaissance
Hello! And the revolution continues. The revolution of The Life Pursuit CD ===================================== I think Mornington Crescent is an alright song, the only problem with it I guess is that it misses the point. I mean, the lyrics are all backwards, you're supposed to END with "Mornington Crescent"! Not Start! There was a possible saviour in calling the Camden Emergency Closure to reverse the move, but it was never called! "Rain in the Southeast" would only block moves on the DLR, which is useless (and that is assuming we're playing with DLR extension at all). My favourite song on the album is 'Another Sunny Day'. The guitar at the start though, is totally the same as Mayfly! But this has better words. Apart from the bit about 'fuck all' which was rude. But the bit about the peninsula is good, because peninsula is a lovely word, and is an anagram of "luna penis". The revolution of the wheels of a Truck ======================================= This weekend I'm going to this thing called 'Truck Festival', but apparently, disappointingly, it has nothing to do with truckers or munching hotdogs/sausage rolls whilst driving an 18-wheeler. Apparently instead it is some kind of music thing. It still sounds fun though, and I don't know any of the bands! But there's one called ":(" which is nice, I want to hear how they introduce themselves. There's also another one called "The Rhonda Valley Pigeon Federation" whom I'd quite like to see, because I like pigeons. Actually I do know one band who are playing, and they feature someone formerly of this Parish! The band isn't "Good Shoes", who are also playing, incidentally, and would have been apt as a name. The Revolution of the Turny Touchpad Thing on the iPod ====================================================== Sorry to hear about your iPod Matt. I had an iPod who died too, a few months ago when I dropped it at a bus stop. I have replaced it now with a new one (free with my phone) but I still have the old one hanging about and I still dream of the day when it would suddenly spring back to life with its wee Apple logo. In the meantime Matt, Broken iPods are very handy for games of catch, you know! It's just got the right weight and size. Doesn't work so well as tennis balls. If you really want to set it onto the river though, let me know and I'll float mine over the Thames, perhaps they'll meet someday along a warm stream on the Atlantic, should yours ever become lost on its way to Avalon and mine to Glastonbury. Prance Prance Revolution ======================== Two months ago, I was on a bus that was going down the road, slowly, as there was a traffic jam. And alongside the road was this man, who was walking down the road normally at first, but then suddenly started skipping and prancing down. My bus and the man were going at around the same pace so I spied on him for about a minute, as he was prancing the whole time. He was very strange, and reminded me of you. Was it you? It was on Caledonian Road, in London. You were wearing a smart shirt, and may have been quite tall, but you cannot always trust your perspectives while on a bus. Hiya, How strange. I was sitting at work today thinking about posting to sinister. I was thinking about all the sinister adventures, and sinister # chats and sinister friends and started to feel all nostalgic. Then I came home and logged into my sinister emailing account and found millions and millions of emails. Maybe summer is just a sinister time of year. Onto posting about my thoughts from work. "Arghh, die stupid boss person! I can not do any more work then you are currently giving me. Leave me alone stupid customers on the phone. I'm sorry we can't send you what you order in 20 seconds flat but you live in the other end of the country. Wait it wasn't those thoughts I meant. We were driving through Northumbria. Bright sun flashes dancing in front our eyes. We were listening to "If you are feeling sinister" recorded live at the barbican. I like listening to that and thinking about people I know dancing and smiling and singing. I drunk shloer out of the bottle to my imagined disapproval of on looking cars. "Drinking a soft drink which looks like wine at 10am in the morning. Straight out of the bottle too. What is the world coming to?" A fly smashed into the windscreen smearing blood that looked like jam. I felt kind of happy and sad all at once. Sometimes all those people and places seem so far away and so long ago - they were good people and good times (Too sentimental? Yes.) But, I'm excited by all this posting. Picnics are good! & I am coming! People have also been talking about ipods dying. I when I first ever posted I wrote about my cassette walkman dying. Technology moves so fast. I can't keep up. I listened to my first ever podcast this week by ballboy (http://www.ballboymusic.com/downloads/ballboypodcast.mp3). I'm not even sure what makes a podcast a podcast but this one involves talking and singing and drinking beer. I like ballboy. They feel like B&S to me. They don't sound like B&S to me though. But they mean something, they make me feel something. I'm obsessive about them. I must go now. I have to pack and get ready to see sini-kid Grainne! See you soon. It'll be great! Hello! We're very very pleased to announce that our guest DJ at HDIF this Saturday is none other than Lawrence Hayward from Felt. I've dreamed of Lawrence DJ-ing at HDIF ever since the start of club, so I'm overjoyed that he's agreed to come and play some records for us. I really can't wait for this one! There's the usual guest list contest. To stand a chance of getting on the list, simply complete this phrase: "I deserve to get in for free because..." Plus! Reviews are starting to come in of the HDIF compilation and they've all been glowing so far! "Forget the forthcoming C86 revival at the ICA already. This is the real sound of the indiepop underground," reckon Plan B magazine. "Charming indie compilation," agree The Guardian. "A splendid who's who of the best in contemporary underground Pop sounds," say Tangents. "This is what indiepop is all about," declare Glasswerk. "This is quite simply one of my LPs of the year. Compilation or not. It hangs together beautifully," say Lostmusic. Phew! We're taking orders for the compilation now from: http://www.howdoesitfeel.co.uk/hdiflabel.html We're celebrating the release of "The Kids At The Club" with a launch party on Friday September 8th at the Windmill in Brixton featuring Lucky Soul, Irene, Language Of Flowers and The Gresham Flyers.
