IanH's no doubt searing expose' ala roman a' clef is lost on me. Living where I do I have not yet met any of the people on this list so I don't know if, say, FluffySarah is actually FluffyFred. Fortunately, I don't care. I don't care if someone fakes a closet of cardigans to try to increase the traffic in their love life and certainly wouldn't feel propelled to 'steal Momus's idea' (apparently of constructing awkward rhyme schemes) to berate a few who might. Those warbly verses obviously weren't composed in hopes of bettering the structure of the list as the author bid us adieu on his way out. That sort of fuck-off-as-I-farewell inevitably leaves a rather dubious impression of the exiter. Same thing happened the other night where I work. A guy mumbled something rude about the workers over his shoulder as he walked out and I said (based on a line from Millers Crossing, with all the bravado of the original) ''It's funny how lippy people get when they're walking out the door'. It actually turned into a mildly exciting face-to-face, but I digress. With a group of this size I am consistently impressed with the readability of a lot of the mail I get from here. It buries any other rock and roll(!) list I've been on in terms of wit and coherence and I don't think that is courtesy Honey's editing. So there's a few daisies who type in lowercase and sound as though they would hyperventilate if their phone ever rang; don't you know any people like that in your real life? I do. You help them over the fence. You don't make fun of them from the top and let the cops get them. (Another story, another digress.) This list has become a fun few mintues of my day. I think it has a good rhythm and is developing a cool argot. In the service of that, I don't care if a few people lie. Most of my favorites encourage it: Q. On what occasions do you lie?
