Thanks Martin! I said that I didn't want a reply, but I guess I was sort of secretly hoping for one. Yeah, I'm truly enamoured by Roxy Music, and it's not a sex symbol thing, I just think they're extremely talented and evocative. As for Scott Walker, I have heard that he was one of the single most influential artists for Bryan Ferry, but Jarvis too, wow - I will try your suggestions. I think I saw the "Best of" CD you mention, is it gray? I'm with you, if I see a "best of" collection, I'm all over it. More music for the money! Actually, lately I've been married to my MP3 player, there's some really good stuff out there. Thanks for welcoming me. Firstly I just thought I'd welcome you, because I was so pleased when someone said 'hello' to me after joining the list. Pleased to see you've bought '...Sinister'. It's the best of the two B&S albums I'be heard (you might have gathered that their first 'Tigermilk' is a mite dificult to get hold of, though someone on the list is meant to be taping me one).
Good to see you like Roxy Music too - a damned underrated band, at least here in Britain. I've only got a realy old 'Best Of'. My favourite songs are 'Editions of You' (great to dance to) and 'Mother of Pearl' (a massive influence on Suede, I'd say), along with the old classics.
As for Scott Walker, it's reckoned that 'Scott 4' is his best (hence the British band of the same name). I think it's the one with 'Boychild' on it - all very camp and flamboyant and much loved by a certain J. Cocker. Myself, I've just got 'No Regrets: The Best of Scott Walker and The Walker Brothers'. It is absolutely amazing, especially 'Montague Terrace In Blue'. I'm not a musical snob. If a band's best songs are on their 'best of', then buy the best of, I say.
Anyway, enjoy life on the list
