Sinister: Slow as a glacier makes its way down to the Rhine
howdy doody, folks! I have a sneaking suspicion I post too long and too often, but what the hey. I just wanted to add my six eggs. The Yerself is Steam/Lego Yer Ego double whammy is tops, including a cover of Miles' Sshh/Peaceful, and, according to the posters, the greatest debut single in the world..ever - Carwash Hair - on the Cd. I don't know if it's true, but it is inexplicably absent from the vinyl. Does anyone care? For all those peeps seeking out the early days of Mercury Rev, the jewel of the collection is the Rough Trade singles club 7" of their cover of If You Want Me To Stay. White hot funk! Actually, that's a little wide of the mark. Wierd shit is closer. Student radio in London - there was Rare FM for a month last year, done out of UCL, doing the have-a-go-with-an-FM-license-(no static at all)-and-we'll-take-a-year-and-a-half-to-decide-whether-or-not-to-let-you-ha ve-another-go thing that whoever decides this stuff does all the time. I proudly guested on the film show but never listened to the rest cos i couldn't remember the frequency. I do know that in the right reception area, if you flick to AM from XFm you get RTL Country. Sweet country music. Sing ho for the picnic! I fear I wasn't terribly egrerious at the last one I went to. Maybe I hadn't had enough beer. But some nice people remembered who I was at Tigermilking. And i enjoyed myself. if everyone thinks happy thoughts it will be sunny. going on too long again spoon xx +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
