Sinister: Finally: My first posting
Hello, you lovely people, I've been on the list for about 6 weeks now and I was lurking for longer then I should, so I thought it's time to introduce myself. Except that there's not much I could tell you about myself - so ... ------ CAUTION! -------- More Bowlie ramblings! ----------- You don't have to read it if you don't want to. Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already? Reading all your postings, it looks like I missed out on quite a few things, like the football (I don't care about football at all but if I had known that B & S were playing I had watched it) and the party on Sunday night because when all the gigs where over I could hardly move and all I really wanted to do was go to bed, but still it was the best weekend of my life so far! Although I had checked in q u i t e early, I was lucky enough to see the street gig on Friday (well, the last 4 songs but I suppose they didn't play much more, or did they?), which was so sweet ... Can you imagine any other band doing this? I certainly can't! So that was a good start. And I saw every single band that was on stage 1! And there wasn't even one who was really bad. Not even the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion who I always disliked. I was giggling all the way through their set at Jon Spencer's rock star behaviour. But maybe it was just the beer I had before they came on. Basically I only watched the bands on Friday because there wasn't anything else to do but on Saturday and Sunday my 2 favourite bands were both on last and I never saw them live before, so me and my friend thought we better go there as early as possible to be right down the front. I never thought I could stand there for about 6 hours 2 days in a row but I did and it was well worth it! Bands I really liked and didn't know before were the lovely Sodastream and the Ladybug Transistor - someone here (sorry, I can't remember who it was) said they were crap but I didn't think so. And the V-Twin were pretty good as well. As for my beloved Divine Comedy, they have so many songs I love which they didn't play but still they were fantastic and I definitely didn't regret waiting for 5 hours for them to come on. And Belle & Sebastian ... They were the best band I've seen all weekend. It was soooo beautiful ... The only bad thing being that their set was over far too soon. Before they came on I felt like I was about to pass out because it was so hot and the last time I had enough space to sit on the floor was before Broadcast came on and I hardly ate anything all day but as soon as B & S were on stage I couldn't have felt better. I waited for about 2 years to see them and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It was so nice to finally hear all these songs I love so much and the most beautiful voice I know live and to see that the man this voice belongs to was exactly like I imagined him. Lovely. I just wish I had met some more of you. I was on the doubledecker bus too but the only people I spoke to were the 2 nice boys me and my friend shared the chalet with (Hello to Matthew and Brian!!). But I really want to try and get to know some more of you before the next Bowlie. I definitely will be there! Antje P.S. I'm still wearing my wristband too. That's pretty sad, isn't it? But I have to remind myself all the time that it wasn't just a dream. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
