Sinister: you're so beautiful it hurts to look at you
hands up who wants 'my so-called life' back in their lives? those with their hands down, hang your heads in shame and woe for having never had the chance to witness such televisual glory and truth. not to mention jarod leto in his best years ever...*rreow* i have recently decided to make my fortune through medical experimentation. it involves very little work, and you are paid handsomely (though i only do it to advance humanity through further medical knowledge, you understand). you know how you see posters on the walls of a university's medicine and psychology buildings, with words like "are you sane?" and "cash paid"? i always rips off the little attachment with the contact details. so far, i have been involved with a study that consisted of me lying on a bed in a very dark room with a tall and skinny young indian man sticking needles into my arm and feeding me drugs. that experiment made me $40 and provided me with a free lunch (hospital food, mind you - i think it was beef). this week i've been subjected to a young psychology student sticking electrodes all over my head and face. she then sat me down in front of a computer that flashed photos of people with hair from the eighties and bad teeth. apparently it was to test my! reactions to different facial expressions, except that i was also forced to wear headphones that protruded awful screaming sounds every few seconds just to wake me up. that experiment was scary - it was all carried out in this tiny broom cupboard too, with pipes running through it so that you could hear the sewerage system doing its stuff inbetween the screaming sounds from the headphones. *$60* there. oh, a while back i think it was jenowl who mentioned the wonderfulness of the colour purple? well, purple lovers unite! there is this great book called 'mauve' by simon garfield, all about the genius who invented the colour. i haven't quite started reading the book yet, so don't quote me here, but i'm pretty sure that it's one of the best books written in all time ever. i saw evan dando last night in melbourne at the corner hotel! he was lovely, and has grown his hair long again ala the days of the lemonheads! the show had quite a rock beginning, with evan and his guitarist buddy chris brokaw standing with their backs to the audience, evan with 666 written on the back of his ripped-up iron maiden t-shirt...then the show just progressed to become a wonderful mash of old lemonheads songs and evan's new stuff - the best songs being the ones that ben lee has written for him, of course (no offence evan)! the best part of the night had to be the encore, however, when evan and chris played with one of the opening bands sneeze, and they played 'luca' by susan baker! what an amazingly cute and brilliant song. if anyone happened to be there (not sure how many other people on the list live in melbourne), if you just happened to see the girl about three rows from the front, centre, in the brown dress and chunky green necklace and dark red hair looking ! totally annoyed with the person in front of her whilst looking totally in awe up at evan - that might possibly have been me. i hope that there are other listees in melbourne, because there is this great club here called the ninth ward - it has this indiepop night called 'weekender' on saturdays that plays belle and sebastian and looper all the time! i always end up having to literally drag my friends onto the dance floor whenever b&s tunes start up! there must be some of you out there, damn it! i saw a girl at the uni library once in an 'if you are feeling sinister' t-shirt - i should have said something to her, but i was feeling very anti-social that day rather than sinister. my name is luca, i live on the second floor... aw, wow. okay, well i have been amy from melbourne and this has been my second post in three and a half years. justin who works for the government, are you still out there? i lost your address!! sorry! -- amy <a.page@ugrad.unimelb.edu.au> +-------------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org.
