In Wellesley, not only does apple butter count as a fruit, but it is also counted as a meat, vegetable, dairy and bread product. For the pious, the intake of apple butter can even be construed as fasting on Fridays, on the provision that it is not eaten in conjunction with any other foodstuffs.
