whilst I'm howling like a beagle in a wind tunnel, let it be said ... a) "Let's get Out of The Country" by Camera Obscura is a work of utter, utter genius. Not only that, but you won't hear a better single than "Lloyd, I'm Ready To be Heartbroken" this year. Or eveer, possibly. b) Also, for anyone for whom the news may have slipped by, there is a new Sodastream album. I was blissfully unaware until I saw it in JB Hi-Fi a few weeks ago on the previously-mentioned trip to Melbourne. c) And finally, I learnt something interesting about myself last night. You see, a few days ago I deleted an entire weeks worth of un-backed-up work from my computer. Last night, in a frantic rush I recreated 37 hours worth of work in about seven or eight hours. Which means I must spend four-fifths of my normal work day pissing around like crazy, right? Alright ... this is the lone voice in the wilderness, over and out ... and I felt obligated to lend my support. They're an absolutely great band with three great albums (Biggest Blue Hi-Fi, Underachievers Please Try Harder and Let's Get Out of This Country.) Their first album sounds like a more-guitar led (especially the last track) B&S - understandable perhaps, as Stuart Murdoch produced it and Richard did the drums. Underachievers was a more instrumentally diverse album, and it moved the band away from being a very B&S influenced band to one with their own sound. Their newest album, Let's Get Out is a great album which you should all purchase. If you can find the EPs as well, check those out, as they've got some great songs, like "Let's Go Bowling" or, "A Red, Red Rose". Seriously folks, check them out. They're got everything a B&S fan will enjoy; literate lyrics, chiming guitars and a lovely voice propelling it all. Oh, and hello! This is my first posting here. I wonder if I may be permitted to 'third' that emotion. Camera Obscura are a fantastic outfit with really really great songs. They feature the bewitching Carey on keyboards who is formerly of this parish. Or perhaps she's still here, in which case 'Hi!'. I bought 'Lloyd, I'm ready to be heartbroken' and am playing it over and over again, which is something I rarely do these days. Brilliant, reassuringly familiar indie pop tunes, with enough sophistication to keep the discerning ear interested. And to bring it right back on topic, I saw them play in London some years back with a certain fey ginger songsmith acting as roadie... But, forgive me, dear ones. Forgive me. I was allowing memory to have the better of me. Geoff ___________________________________________________________ To help you stay safe and secure online, we've developed the all new Yahoo!
