Thank goodness there are real French people around. I didn't think I could make up any more hunches about Serge lyrics than I already did!:) Bran, interesting...so Phillippe, do you not think that "son" could possibly mean "sound" or "his" at all? I didn't realize just how huge this song was back in the day when it was th Eurovision winner until I was playing FG for my mom and even *she* remembered hearing it in Korea at the time!!!? I don't know if it was France singing in Japanese or what, but jeez, that's pretty big. I guess "les ye-yes" hit everywhere except for mainstream America at the time...?
