Hi. Just in case anyone wants to know, Snow Patrol played here in Belfast last Friday. However I missed them as I though they were on on Saturday. Doh! And they've got a track on the fairly poor quality v/a cd 'belFEST '97' (17 bands! only 99p! which I suppose you can't really complain about, really.) called 'my last girlfriend'. So there you go. clv. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. . This is the same track that they put on the CD given out to people going on the Intercity Crawl back in September. I think I've put it on tapes I've done for some people on this list. All the bands who were playing all three nights (Camden, Manchester and Glasgow) donated one song. At the Camden one, they were one of only two bands that turned up out of the four who were meant to be playing at Dingwalls, but when they were on stage the place was still packed; obviously loads of people had heard that they'd signed for Jeepster and decided that they must be really good... Personal info; I'm a 20 year old student, who spends his time playing korfball and volleyball, socialising, and looking for the woman of my dreams... (Oh, and occasionally working as well :-)) There do seem to be a lot of students on this list. Is that just because we get free e-mail access? Stuart G I really shouldn't e-mail people when I get back from the pub... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . yes yes yes. university email is fast and free. reason enough to pursue higher education, no? an another collegiate B&S note...there was a small review of the B&S EPs in the entertainment section of our daily newspaper here a week ago, written by a DJ at the radio station here. needless to say, I whooped with joy when I saw the article. here's an excerpt: "In trying to get across to you this music's nature I find myself truly at a loss for words. You really have to hear these records for yourself...they're all beyond belief. If you have to know what they sound like, they make beautiful, folky, poppy, incredibly heartfelt music. But you must see, and hear, for yourself. Their music does not function as mere entertainment, or even as art, but as something that transcends those parameters." and each day at 8PM, DJs have the option of doing this thing called the 8 o'clock break, which is an opportunity to showcase the work of one artist for an hour. two Fridays ago, during the timeslot when I apprentice at the station, the guy who wrote the review (he's also a DJ) played B&S during the 8 o'clock break. people kept calling in to further inquire about the band. the music was well-received. and I was delighted, to say the least. and about me: 18 (born April 8), student (studying journalism) and tea-cozy aficionado. ta, Amanda ------------------------ Amanda Bergman Northwestern University a-bergman@nwu.edu "At another table, a girl stared solemnly into her cup. Yeah, I was incredibly impressed when I opened our student newspaper and found a review on B&S and 3,6,9... If James Ellvers is out there, did it have anything to do with you, and how many yah's did you have to threaten to review a band with any talent, nevermind such a seductively gifted band such as B&S (ihope it didn't cost you too cuch in the way of G&T's etc.) love and hugs, Laura :) xxx On Mon, 3 Nov 1997, Amanda Bergman wrote:
