hello I'm on the digest and as people on the digest probably know it's not been very well and we've all been getting little parcels of nothingness instead of mail for some time now. So since the nottingham gig I've had no mail at all, and thus have not been able to play my part in the post gig joyousness. I've just received all the digests I missed as one huge bulging sackful, but it's going to take me hours to wade through it all, and I want to talk NOW NOW NOW or my limbs'll fall off or something. So anyhows, my point is this, I'm going to tell you my nottingham experiences, and you've probably heard it all before, because you've been nattering for ages, but I'm going to tell you anyway. So, erm, sorry...and all that. Well, during the course of my quick flick through I've noticed that a lot of you have been complaining about the heat and such like, and I kind of noticed that (it was hard not to), but to be honest, with a performance like that it sooo didn't bother me. I would have felt positively greedy asking to be able to breathe as WELL.... But OK, I see your point, if that sort of thing gets to you. And I could hear them perfectly well (and I wasn't right at the front), so I don't really understand all this stuff about sound problems. The only problem as far as I could see was people talking too loudly, and too often and over the top of songs. But then you get that everywhere. And I cried during two of the songs. Prize to anyone who can guess which two. And oh my god, oh my god, Isobel looked so beautiful. I'm praying to god my photos come out. And her cello, and her voice were both spot on. And Stuart's voice was on top form. And Stevie sounded fantastic too. And thay just sound so much like a band now rather than loads of separate little things. And they were so smooth and so lush and so competent. Manchester seems light years away. It was magic. And we took some white wine with us called Tigermilk. And on the way home there was a full moon, and the best fog EVER, and we saw a BAT! A bloody bat. It flickered right over our car on the M42. A really big one too. Oh you're all so beautiful. It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career goes like this in my BRANE: He had a stroke at the Age of 24 It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career But i've love in my pocket, love in my pocket YOU're so Vain, i bet you think this song is about you Yopu're va-ee-aaa-ain... and so on... have other readers noticed this? Just me then... not to DISS it tho, it's the best on the record, and every listen makes the record better and better. Thank heavens for that. In other news: I'm glad i didn't DREAM Dundee in Seymour Stein. Please don't anyone EVER try drinking Tigermilk "wine" just because of the name - it is like THUNDERBIRD but with a pound of sugar stirred in. Eesh. And yeah, when are those unreleased ones getting released i.e. Long Distance Runner (did they _choose_ the Marcus Garvey cos of this link?), PocketBook Angel etc? And especially Modern Rock Song? Or are they staying as Bootlegs forever? word is that they haven't released Middle Distance Runner because they've not managed to get a good recording done yet. ithink that's sad because the three different versions i've heard all sound divine. it really is still one of my all time b&S faves, despite the fact that the notts rendition was a little shabby in comparison to other hearings. Pocketbook Angel 'etc' i very much doubt will ever get 'official' releases as they are pre-Tigermilk demos. Modern Rock Song? god knows. it's also a top tune. What about the stuff that didn't make it to the LP? Wrong Love anyone? Nad the instrumental Tigermilk? Rhoda? I Know Where The Summer Goes? Are these slated for EP release soon? D&K tell us all!! hope my witterings helped someone. the duke -- 'all of our dreams are dying of overdoses' Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@lineone.net +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
