Oh Sinister, baby, you know I only neglect you because I love you. Maybe someday you'll understand. Hey you! It's been about 6 months, hasn't it? Hello one and all. I won't bother introducing myself to the new people because you'll all forget anyway (don't insist you won't!). Just know that I love you for you. So a few weeks ago, I decided something must be done to the bathroom stalls in Chicago. At a cafe on a Saturday afternoon, I snuck into the ladies' and was thrilled to find a chalkboard hung on the wall right next to the toilet. Written there was your typical "for a good time, call Lisa", and "Ani DiFranco RAWKS!", and other dippy hippy nonsense. I wrote "We Rule the School" in lavender, as time was too short to write the Great American Novel as I had planned. Later that evening, I had to go again, but this time we were witnessing the glory that is Dean Wareham with his Luna people. Scrawled on the stall in a black Sharpie was: On a bus stop rudely carved [sic] "we rule the school" so i was happy to see the phrase crop up once again, but felt an intense desire to do some editing. At that moment, with my knickers around my ankles (ooh!), I devised PROJECT PASTIE. It's a revolution in bathroom decorating, I swear! I invite all of you to participate, JOIN MY CAUSE! it'll be an international sensation. Just scribble phrases all over club and pub restrooms. I find that "are you happy with yourself?" makes a nice intro. Perhaps "you go disco and I'll go my way" would suit others. Pick a line, any line. All I ask is that you be subtle about it. There's nothing worse than an indiscreet vandal. Although the Vandals, undoubtedly, knew not how to be subtle, because, really, how subtle can you be when pillaging villages? or villaging pillages. Oh how i ramble! In summary: YOU: marker in mano BATHROOM STALL: your favorite B & S lyrics. And yet I continue! Just a quick word to any Chicago sinisters. The Lucksmiths are playing Lounge Ax on Wednesday, opening up for 2 bands whose names I can't be bothered to remember. If anyone is interested in meeting up beforehand (maybe around 7-8?), email me privately. The seeds of the Great Chicago Sinister Meet-Up have been planted in my head, and I've been working on it, I promise.
