Hello my dear sweet listees…And now I, the writer of many notoriously off-the-subject postings (Tanya Donelly, One Dove, Mercury Rev etc!) must go offline for a month or so to journey to the spiritual home of B&S (sort of) that is London. YAY! Wish me luck listees and lots of fun. Hope the weather won't be too punishing too. And thanks to those extra cool people who have enlightened me on the best record shops etc to go to. If Philippe whom I've-tapes-to-months-ago-and-has-now-gone-to-Salt-Lake-City contacts the list, please do tell him of my whereabouts and remind him of his obligation!:) And to keep in the tradition of my non B&S content postings, I must urge all UK listees of this wonderful list to go and watch this new series that's just hit your screens. It's called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and no, no don't be put off by the title or your recollections of the misfired movie, this series is far, far, FAR superior to it, and also coincidentally most TV shows today. I honestly think it as one of the best TV shows to have come out since "Twin Peaks" (my all-time favourite), yep THAT good:) Think "My So Called Life" mixed with "Scream" and the "X-files" and how can you fail? It's not kitschy at all, but effectively blends genuinely suspenseful horror, comedy and heart breaking drama into first rate entertainment. The first few episodes are pretty good but it definitely gets MUCH better further along the series.Over here in Australia, it's series two and I can tell you it's a ripper (no pun intended). Plus it also helps that the star is one Sarah Michelle Gellar who is one of my favourite actresses (along with Christina Ricci)- she's absolutely terrific in her angst-filled role. Give the girl an Emmy I say! Well that's all. Keep the peace Sinisterines and the B&S faith. And let's all vote B&S to win that Best Newcomer Award!!!:) How excellent would that be? (and weird too).
