I just stumbled across this correspondence, so I've probably missed everything... The Secret History is good. My recommendation is The House of Sleep by Jonathan Coe (paperback due next month). Not only did it have the most beautiful tracing paper cover since Lowlife but it's the most B&S thing I've ever read, involving dreams, beaches, children and the best Wim Wenders joke I've ever heard.
