here's one of jj and celia, both very tipsy, grinning and laughing, clutching the bottle of champagne they were just handed for winning the dance contest at the duke of glouchester's northern soul night. endurance, rather than talent, must have been the determining factor in this contest - after their table was removed to make more room for the dance floor, they had no place to sit and therefore no choice but to spend the entire rest of the evening dancing non-stop. (the fact the djs had had learned that they had driven all the way from michigan probably didn't hurt either.) unfortunately lovely elisa isn't in this shot as she had to leave early to head to the airport to pick up tag (who probably would've won the contest had he not missed his earlier flight). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - all in all, belle&sebastian's cancellation didn't stop me from having one of the most fun weekends i've had in ages. toronto is a great city and i'm really amazed i haven't been up there before considering the drive is no longer than driving to chicago and i do that all the time. i found a kid loco lp (abstract blues) that i couldn't find anywhere here, had one of the best sandwiches i've ever had (baked brie, tomato, fresh herbs on supersoft marbled rye - *yum!* and super cheap too - gotta love that canadian dollar!), wandered around exploring with friends, met up with some sinisterians at the public library pub, and got to hang out with elisa again for the first time a couple years - many thanks to her and her excellent tour guide skills (both in person and via email). the only downside to the weekend was the hangover on sunday morning (when will i learn that i'm getting too old to drink the way i did when i was 22?) and having to come home for school instead of getting to stay and play for a few more days. oh yeah, and not making it to vortex records. well i guess it just means i have go back again soon *grin* i'm sad that the show didn't happen, but hey, i'll see them one of these days. i was hoping to be able to drive to chicago tonight but unfortunately, the responsibilities of school are getting in the way (darn group projects!) so i hope everyone has a great time and sends lots of reviews in so i can live vicariously. and if anyone records any of the shows and wants to make me a copy, i'll be much appreciative! xojj * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * fantastic po box 4492 ann arbor mi 48106 usa http://www.fantasticpop.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
