hmmm... I wonder which of the Belles or Sebastians did a turn for school track, or perhaps just a subject casually cast into the spotlight?

Hey, there's our new topic! spot the recurrent themes!!! Mind you, haven't we all done a bit of ill-advised school athletics sometime in our lives? :) (usually before the age of 16, obviously..hehehe) P.S. Elvis is most definitely that key found on most keyboards with a hatch on the bottom and the squiggly thing used for user names in URLs on the top. So there. Urmm. Track and Field. I was advised prior to my first days of High School to join X-Country because it was a "good opportunity to meet people". I did meet people, but no lasting friendships; I didn't really want to meet other people who had also joined for the same reasons as I. But my track career was something of a macguffin--neither fast enough for sprinting, nor stamina enough for long distance, I fell into middle distance (400m). Retro-prophecy indeed. and that is my track and field career in two paragraphs or less. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . oh well, if we're starting... I went to cross country once, but ended up half collapsing due to the fact I went there straight from my sick bed. Bad idea. Apart from that I was once a 400m runner like yerself (well, when i say i was one, I did it twice in the Interform- once I dropped out halfway through, once I won by miles)...aside from that the only exercise I get is dancing around madly to pop records in nasty clubs............. there you are, I'm sure someone could write a song about that. Entitled "The Lazy Gits Of Chewed Up Tracks And Dog S**t Encrusted Fields." Oh, it's been done? :) Kate xxx ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . our school was a rugby school, and if you didn't want to play rugby you were, erm, one of the outsiders. Or hockey if you were a girl (isn't thatright caz? if you're still on the list...). Naturally, i was an outsider. We had to do x-country in PE though and i hated it because i always was frail and fey. Then when i was around 14 i started cycling a lot, and i actually got pretty fit. Anyway, I used to have PE with all the rugby team, and then we'd be doing sprints and stuff and i was beating them easily, and doing high jump, again beating them easily, or hurdles... anything really. They were all a bit put out i think. Anyway, when it came to getting our school reports, all the other kids who played rugby got 'excellent' for their PE report and i only ever got 'satisfactory', even though i was faster and fitter than most of them. I kinda laughed but it still made me mad. erm, you didn't really want to know all that did you? the duke.
