RE: Sinister: Take it like a man, baby if that's what you are
if anyone sees the make-up in berkeley tonight, i'm curious what you think of the opening band "casiotone for the pinfully alone" -- they (he) are (is) a low-fi pop phenomenon that i discovered last week during a trip to san francisco. it's all tiny little keyboards that you'd expect to see at the goodwill for $5 and he puts them to terribly good use. vocals are vaguely reminescent of arab strap in a quiet half-spoken/half-sung story sort of way. but for you twee kids, don't worry, there are no mentions of cocks anywhere. lyrical content is more along the lines of holding hands and feeling sad. which a lot of people are sick of, but it's so heartfelt that i can't help but love it. c.f.t.p.a. has a 7" on train bridge recordings that you can probably find at indie stores in the bay area or at his shows. or e-mail me if you want the address... seamus
