Sinister: Who really likes music more?
Mr. Miller said: Well its true, people who know about lesser, more obscure bands are more 'in' it proves they love music more.
I think I may disagree. The person who only loves the Beatles, The Who and D. Bowie but is unaware of the Extra-glens may simply be showing that their love for the Beatles is as much as someone's love for obscure bands and other stuff. I just don't think its a way to measure who likes music more. I don't think there are any indicators. Maybe someone can comment on this and change my mind? I asked a friend who isn't into the indie scene/obscure bands if what Mr. Miller said is true and here is what he said ( I hope you don't mind that I did that Peter): "Not one bit. At least up until 1980, the most popular bands were the most talented. Obscure bands are obscure because no one wants to hear them because their music sucks. People that mastered music are those who mastered obscure SONGS from popular bands, like we do with our lists. " just to clarify what he said: since we were kids we made lists and used the word mastered to imply that we have great knowledge about a subject. we still talk that way now and we still make lists Paul +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
