Then, in the first real surprise of the night, the Best British newcomer award went to eight-piece Glasgow folk pop band Belle and Sebastian, who have barely dented the charts in their three-year career, but beat the likes of Steps, Billie and Cornershop in the category, which is chosen by listeners of BBC Radio One. The award was presented to two of the group by Huey from US band Fun Lovin' Criminals and Radio 1 DJ Zoe Ball who has just announced her engagement to Norman Cook, alias Fatboy Slim. ----------------------- Cant wait to see it on TV tomorrow now and thankfully we'll still be able to switch off before the Eurythmics reunion.
