Hello If you were listening, you may remember that I wrote a few days ago about my Inventor's Kit that I'd sent off for. Well, yesterday the wonderful world of invention turned scary. I was doing the washing up when the phone rang. The voice on the other end was a very well spoken American, sounding a little like Troy McClure. "Hi I'm from the Inventor's Agency. I'd like to know if you have an invention you want to send us." "Er, well, I hadn't thought about it really" At first I thought it was a practical joke, but he took me through the forms I'd been sent, told me lots of official sounding things to fill in and I decided that if it was a joke it was far too clever for any of my friends. So I started to get scared. Actually, there was one thing that was a bit strange. He told me to write a number on the form, and then to write his name which was Jerry "With a J" Singer. "Jerry Singer?" I asked, "Are you sure?" "Yes," he replied, in a voice like he'd heard it a hundred times before, "Not Jerry Springer" So I had my doubts, but it was all too uncanny not to be true. Then he told me that he'd phone back in two days, to see if I've had any ideas about my invention. So now I have a dilemma. Either I think of an amazing invention in two days or I admit to him that I'm just a silly boy who phoned up for his Inventors Kit as a joke. I'm not looking forward to either option.
