RE: Sinister: sell outs? PAH!
'Real' bands like The Smiths, Joy Division and New Order release these type of singles. it's gr8 (another variant) to hear these words of wisdom from Lawrence. Of course any band worth its salt releases singles which do not appear on albums, although it is interesting to note that all the examples he quotes had compilation albums released at a later date, on which the aforementioned singles appeared. Of course, a 'best of' compilation is itself seen as an example of 'selling out' in some quarters, especially when it's called 'Greatest Hits'. May their stars shine bright on TOTP! Good point, would B&S do TOTP? Or would they be like the Clash and refuse to? Their shyness and the relative rareness of their live appearances suggest that they wouldn't.
