Does anyone in Washington DC have a nook or a spare bookshelf that four travelers from NYC could spend the night in? Brian, Megan, Mick, and I are travelling down Friday for the show, and need a place to stay for the night, before we dash back up to NYC and the shows there. Actually, just a place for Brian and I would be fine--Megan and Mick can stay in the car for the night and "guard" it. (As long as they don't steam up the windows. Oo-er). hey kids, i'm not subbed at the moment i'm afraid - just too many things to do it seems - but i just wanted to say a couple of things: one, does anyone want a copy of the Black Sessions? i've had like one request, which seems weird... i hope it's not all falling on the other uK tapers' shoulders. Who was that again? my memory is shot. Anyway, thanks to phillipe for organising that... the session sounds great. Anyone who wants a copy email me please, not the list. In more news: sad to hear that Isobel was unwell and that some people therefore didn't get to see the band play. Sad all round :-( I hope that the copy of the book i am sending her, and the band, cheers her, and them up. Somehow i doubt it will, but what the heck. Can anyone guess what book i'm sending? Answers on a postcard (record sleeve) to the usual addresses. Peter Miller's will do. Yes, anyone who was and is still interested, my book finally came from the printers and binders. in a strange quirk of coincidence, some pupils of mine who were on work experience were involved in the binding... thankfully all the pages seem to be in the correct order. Sorry if this sounds like an advert, i just know that a few listees asked that i tell them when it came out, and i lost their addresses, and erm, sorry... The Mercury Rev record is lovely. To those of you who remember the Lovin' Spoonful wars: i met up with the war crimes perpetrator last week in an Exeter bar. Budvar was exchanged, and whilst there was a degree of intolerance on my part at mention of radiohead and oasis, a cease fire was signed. Actually, Jonathan and i had a fine time and plan to do it all again soon. But without the radiohead and oasis talk, naturally... i have to go and write about mailing lists now. what joy. keep the faith kids, the duke -- 'all of our dreams are dying of overdoses' Tangents On-Line http://www.tangents.co.uk PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@lineone.net +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". Hello I emailed the duke about the dubbing of the black session and then he told me that he is only doing the uk dubs. Is there someone in charge of the states dubs? If so, I am extremely interested and have many things to trade. Please email me and a wonderful trade can occur! brian +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". okay, so i just heard from Honey that one of you lot has been, and i quote, "spectacularly rude" about me. Who was it? Tag? You said you would forget about that faux pas in the Empire foyer. Keith? I thought we'd sorted that problem over our disagreement about the limited edition signed Arab Strap 'toys'. I certainly sent back the ones you didn't want, maybe you didn't get the refund? Or was it the Miller man? I told you i wouldn't hold you personally responsible, didn't i? oh well. It's lovely to be back, but don't expect it to last long, especially if you're not going to instantly vote me number one in the list crush stakes. keep the faith, the duke. ------------------------------------------ 'all of our dreams are dying of overdoses' ------------------------------------------ Tangents On-Line http://www.tangents.co.uk PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@lineone.net ------------------------------------------ +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net". How come I've just had more digests in 24 hours than ever before and yet
okay, so i just heard from Honey that one of you lot has been, and i quote, "spectacularly rude" about me. Who was it? No, it wasn't me being rude, not as far as I'm aware Mr.Harringay. I have no idea WHO it was mind you. My mail is back and alive again at work or so it seems for the moment, sorry to everyone who's written to me and may conceivably not have had a reply - as I say mail at work has been dodgy recently and I know some mails haven't got through. Read your book Duke. It was interesting, although I'd read quite a lot of it before on your website. By the way, anyone who wants to mail me can do so now at the following address which is at home and therefore in a different place : k.watson@cableinet.co.uk Indeed Tag is right about the list and stuff. I have a birthday too you know. Does anyone else on the list have a birthday? What's your favourite round thing? Etc. etc. Hate to say it but it does seem to be pretty dull these days. The list was much better in the old days, when the fans were REAL and the people writing to the list were BETTER like when Moses used to pitch in with his comments about Stuart's early tracks like "Missed the bus lost my mess" . Liked Martin Horsefield's bit about casuals, that was quite factual that. A bit like having your very own discovery channel on the list. As regards the other pressing subject of the day, The WHO, I don't know what more I can add to the current debate. I could I suppose recount the entire story from 30 Years of Maximum R&B. Hey, maybe I will... who knows. Let it be known however that The WHO are a wonderful band WHO should be checked out by WHOever feels the inclination. Mark and Vicky, if you're in Edinburgh, give me a call if you like on 0131 228 9924 and we shall pop out for a drink, or mail me on the above address (or work today). Has Rodddddddddddney not made it as far as Boston yet, surely he's got himself "wired for mail" as Sir Cliff would have put it. Has he not joined this list again. We could all mail him to and beg him to on rod@begbie.com to which I'm sure he reads quite frequently. Tag wrote: the only thing I feel inspired to write is "unsubscribe sinister-digest"? Well don't bloody well write it to the list Tag, ensure that you send it to the proper address. There's nothing worse than the likes of you just sending your unsubscribe messages to the list to get attention. The thing that bores me most at the moment seems to be the never ending stream of mails since the recent LP came out saying stuff about how they love (insert member of band) and how they've got sexy (fill in whatever), it's just like the letters that Helen Gibson receives on the Sex Show on Live TV (Dear Helen, your show is great, but when are *you* going to show us your sexy feet). - Ian, I take it Mick has received proper neat printouts of all the stuff regarding his sexy arms and stuff. Cheers, Keith. +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
