Sinister: weekend guilt, modern rock, snow patrol december in new york
[oops, i sent this to the jeepster address instead of the sinister one...apologies for clogging up the jeepster mailbox. *blush*] hi popkids, another week, another post. how goes it, bunnies? i myself am recovering from a rather debaucherous weekend, trying to bury guilty feelings deep within me...any suggestions for obliterating them all together? the highlight of my weekend was definitely my trip to other music, where i purchased a lovely orangey ep called 'this is just a modern rock song.' (apoplogies phillipe...i'm going to talk about this, just close your eyes and scroll down.) i've been having a belle and sebastian ep marathon at work today, and no one's been annoyed with me yet (as far as i know). i must admit that i think i prefer 'the gate' to 'is it wicked not to care?' well, i prefer it today, anyway. but both songs are *so* cute and *so* catchy and oh-*so*-isobel-esque, why are we debating this? and i'm much impressed with the recording of 'slow graffiti,' as the only other version i'd heard previously is the bbc sessions one. my 20-year-old punk rawk brother (and budding b&s fan) and i had a 'modern rock song' listening session the other morning in his apartment...we shut off 'daria' in the middle of the episode to do this, and mind you this was an episode which largely featured trent (the one when daria gets her navel pierced)!!! ah, the power of belle and sebastian... so i've given up contributing to the 'pop movements' discussion, but i wanted to say that i've found all of your observations really interesting. i would comment but fear my words wouldn't be too useful as i'm still headachy and bleh from my weekend. now, for a bit of jeepster content: i'm very saddened that snow patrol will be on television and i will not be able to see them (sad about the 'modern rock song' video too, which i assume will never reach our tired american shores). really, i think i am one of four americans who care about snow patrol. i've yet to get their record...katrina/david, can i order from the site? i assume the answer to that question is yes, but i haven't checked it out yet and thought i'd ask anyway. sorry. the thing i've been wondering about...why the lack of british press on snow patrol? i haven't read much about them, save a few live reviews in the nme. has there been any feature-y sort of thing about them anywhere or do they subscribe to the stuart m. school of the non-interview? well, i don't have much else to say except it is just too hot for december in new york. it's strange looking at wreaths and bows and christmas lights decorating buildings while i'm only wearing a light cardie. cheers, stasia +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list please mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
