Sinister: Tigermilk Register - IVE GOT ONE !!
Ha HA! I have a copy of Tigermilk, it cost me 8 pounds and i spent weeks trying to get the address of the people i had to write to ( thank you Mark Radcliffe ) . Its in the brown cardboard sleeve they sent it to me in. After I got it they also wrote me a couple of letters ( signed by B&S) which was nice. No coffee stains, and i wont know the serial number until i go home and see it again. ( which is in Aberdeen ) I also have all the posters for the 3 singles. Some people think i'm obsessive. Does anyone have a full copy of the Mark Lamarr session they did ? I dhave the songs but only poor copies ( i didnt have a very good recorder in those days.) Er , I hope i havent made too much of an arse of myself. Simon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Simon.
You've made yourself look like a complete plonker, Simon. Eight quid?!!! I got mine for bugger all, but I've made a complete twat of myself by managing to lose the press release thingy that came with it. So it's only worth 250 smackers instead of 400 million or something. No coffee stains, but the cover is creased, which probably drastically reduces its financial value. It's only been played once, not due to my fanatical record collector habits, but because I haven't got a record player. I've got it on a poor quality tape that I've listened to once and a half. I've got two Elton John CDs and last week I sent a letter to William "the" Hague. I break wind profusely. It occurred to me the other day that all the members of Belle and Sebastian must have copies (keeping count, Paul?) so that might be why they don't want to rereleases it. So that their own copies are worth billions and billons of petrodollars What dispicable behaviour! I applaud them for it. Whats in a name ? Had Belle and Sebastian been named after a diferentkids cartoon - mysterious cities of gold for instance - would they have been the same band ? The songs could have been the same but their overall appeal wouldnt. The name gives them a warm and lovely aura - so much so that you want to reach out and hug them and then go for a walk in the andes or wherever. There is a definable character to the band indvidual to their actual character which is so because of the fact that they have this name. Ive taken it too far but there is something in it I think . And they namecheck themselves in so many songs - they perhaps hide behind the fictional characters of B&S to allow them to explore stories and ideas within the songs. I'm not normally like this; I just finished a seminar all about youth culture in the 50's, 60's and 70's which has affected my head. My tutor said that a female friend of his in about 62 went to university and in order to shock her parents she wore a duffle coat and her hair in pigtails. A whole other world. Michael Terwey - can I have my tape of the Lamacq session back please ? What a dull message Bye..... ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Happy first of December everyone. Only two weeks to go before I will be reunited with my copy of Tigermilk. Would it offend the purists out there to say that i am contemplating mixing some CJ Bolland or Roni Size with 'the state i am' in over the holidays? Much as I love B&S as they are, there always has to be room for experimentation. I promise that if I get a pair of anything for Christmas I will name one of them Belle and one of them Sebastian. Thatll be all Simon . ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. . All these sightings of various members of B&S in laundry's - how can you be sure they are really them ? Does Stuart have his name written on his undies ? I dont want to spoil any dreams, but I thought I saw Maartin Clunes the other week, but then realised that in fact it was his lookalike who had appeared on Richard and Judy during the summer. At least I think it was. Is there anyone out there who looks like a b&s member who could send me a photo so next time i wash my keks I can check it against the other washers in the shop. Please? And has anyone else heard anyone cover a B&S song ? I heard a bloke called John do "My wandering days are over" in a cafe called Victor J's in York, kind of like Thom Yorke sings Belle and Sebastian. It was a really good version and I think it would be nice to hear someone like Beth Orton do a cover or even a duet. 3...6...9...seconds, and Relax., Simon.( ) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
