I've been as busy as the proverbial bee and tracked down an article which, though probably not definitive, should go a long way to explaining to non-UK listers what the indie/twee/cutie scene was about. Anyway, I've enclosed it as a text file(only 26K) and am sure you'll find it interesting, even if you're from the UK.
Keith Watson tells me that the file was gibberish. It seems that I sent it compressed for the Mac (default setting). Apparently PC users can't read Mac encoded files not fair since Macs can read PC files. Pesky PCs. Anyway, I've re-sent it Base 64 encoded and uncompressed as plain text. If it's still gibberish please mail me. I still think it's worth a read! Bye, Paul <plaird@ndirect.co.uk> "Go to work on an Egg" - The Egg Marketing Board
Excuse me if I'm out of line here, but isn't it generally considered a bad idea to send file attachments to mailing lists? -- just because they can crash computers or connections, or take ages to download... this applies especially to pictures and sounds. I know textfiles aren't really big or anything, but I received a mail a while back that was obviously *meant* to go to the whole list, which had an .exe attachment, which *did* screw up my mail server connection and took several minutes to DL... so is there any chance we could only send file attachments by private mail, for the sake of listmembers who don't want to, or can't, receive them? - this has been list policy for every list I've been on... Kate - yes you've reminded me this is often the safest approach and doesn't exclude people with older software. I'll stick it in the FAQ and if anyone needs to include non-ASCII text stuff just send it to me and I'll put it up on the website below. So come on then, has anyone bought it yet - legit?
