"guess that's that for now, but before i go, do let me know about your opinions on the following: kafka's "the trial" vs orwell's "1984" - which of these 2 "worlds" do you find the most disturbing? (and why)" damn... i havent read the trial but since ive just finished reading 1984 i though id comment anyway :) might as well have one side of the argument. i very nearly didnt finish the book actually... i reached the bit where the main character started reading "the book" which just seemed a way for orwell to get out some of his pet theorys and was much longer than actually nessesarry but since i was on holiday and id finished all my other books i persevered and then it got a LOT better. the bit with the rats was particularly disturbing because we had found a load of huge spiders and i had dreams about spiders riding on rats... that was really disturbing... so my point was umm im not sure... maybe that dreams are more disturbing than books? anyway 1984 is extreamly disturbing but i dont think that its that revolutionary or special or even particulary worth reading... perhaps it was more revolutionary an idea at the time? the curious incident of the dog in the nightime is an excellent book though, i cant remember who its by but its written from the point of veiw of an autistic boy.. humm.... ive wasted enough of your time... you can stop reading now __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Do you mean that the transition to a 1984-style society has now been fully completed so the book is not worth reading? The united states is at war with osama bin laden. The united states has ALWAYS been at war with osama bin laden." The worst excesses of 1984 occur daily in our society, if you'd care to notice.
