Hey kids, Lordy, it's been ages since I've sent a post to the list. I feel I must write, though, to tell all of you going to the Bowlie to see the Flaming Lips if at all possible. They're playing the second main stage on Saturday, whatever that means. I just saw them in concert for the first time this weekend, and I can honestly say IT WAS THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. And I've seen a few. Their new music is completely different, with lots of piano and less rock. You won't get to see the neat headphone concert that they've been putting on in America (where the audience members wear headphones tuned into a local radio frequency that's broadcasting what the band is playing, so you get sound out of the main speakers and the headphones, which you can control) - it was so refreshing to hear treble again. But what you *will* get to see, if they repeat any of their tricks, is delightful! All I can hint at (without spoiling all of their flourishes) is airborne glitter, hand puppets, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. And the music is better than anything they've done so far.
