what about the occasional appearance of men of the cloth in B&S songs? viz.

- An interesting topic! I´ve been wondering a lot about it. Had mr Murdoch a catholic upbringing? I mean there is a lot of hints about confession of sins and so on. And someone wrote about the book/film, "the loneliness of the longdistance runner". What is it about? And all you Felt fans out there, what record do you recommend to start with? Hard questions I guess. And please excuse my interest in USA and New York, but has there been a lot written about B&S over there or how have they become so popular (apart from making great music)? I see "If You're Feeling Sinister" as being a very cynical, anti-religion song and so was surprised to read Stuart Murdoch declare his faith, and the fact that he lives within the confines of a church, in a recent Melody Maker interview. Well, I haven't read anything about B&S on anything but the indiepop list (for the past year!!) and here, but I do know that IYFS peaked on the CMJ (college radio) charts at #5. So, yea, I think they are fairly popular in college radio. - Ara Hacopian - ahacop@wam.umd.edu - http://www.wam.umd.edu/~ahacop - "The Pop Loser Show (Summer Pop Radio)" Tuesdays noon-3pm WMUC-FM 88.1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
