Sinister: re:secret stars
ohooooh, I adore the secret stars like you wouldn't believe and I could tell you their entire discography right now. OK I will, if you insist. Cassette-only self-titled release - shrimper they have 2 7"s and 1 split 7" with Ida self-titled CD Geneologies CD alright so I can't remember the names of the 7"s and stuff. bah. they rule. In fact I interviewed Geoff Farina, who is one-half of the secret stars, and is also in the band karate, for the first issue of my zine. He was so sweet, and so intelligent, that I instantly developed a huge crush on him. and... he actually CALLED me once and I was so excited. this is how our conversation went: Him "Hi, I was wondering you had (name deleted)'s phone number." me: "yes, I do, it's (phone # deleted)." him: "Ok, thanks. well, have a nice weekend. Bye." and that was the beginning, the middle, and the end of our steamy romance. ;) anyway I think people who like belle and sebastian would be into the secret stars. they have quiet, mellow, lovelorn songs for the most part, and occasionally there's some tape manipulation and stuff going on. the secret stars are amazing. check them out. right now. what are you waiting for? go!
