Hey you Cynthia with the nice surname said: << my buddy robert's been chatting up a girl in a flowershop of late, and that's always the best sort of story, even if there's a bad ending, or even if there's no ending, and the romance is just sort of forgotten before it's really begun.>> I agree; my favourite kind of stories, even if most of the time the ending is.. not the best part of it. But, as someone else said recently, grown-up stories often have bad endings, (or none at all), so lets just say that crush-stories are very mature stories ;-) (BTW why does no one on this list ever use those smileys? Is there some hidden rule against it and everyone who uses them is despised in the Great Sinister Underground Community? I think they are very nice when used sparsely. I sometimes really miss the possibility to use them when I am writing a pen-and-paper-letter) Some days, dear sinisterines, some days are too good to be true. Ive always wondered why all bad things normally come together on one single day, and its the same with good things. Mystery, mystery. The day I want to talk about was a good one. The sun shone, everyone was nice to me.. after university, I went to my fave record-store... I thought to myself: today is a good day, so you never know, they might have Lazy Line Painter in today... Yeah, sure. Ive never seen it in my life, so why not today? and... What shall I say? A purple record cover smiled at me. Then I went to the tea-shop. There are about 3 tea shops in Paris, because, as everyone knows, the French have no culture ;) (see why you need whose smileys? Without it, Stéphane would be furious at me and never talk to me again). Anyway; I am on a lonely quest to double the average French tea consumption. But back to the tea shop. The first one or two times I went there I had been served by a girl I immediately fell in crush with, that had been at least 3 months before... she had those irresisitible green eyes and porcelaine skin and wonderful small br.. ho-hum. She was great. But of course, being the Don Juan that I am, all I managed was to have interesting conversations.. about tea. And after those first two times - you know what the nightmare of shop-crushes is? SCHEDULES. No matter when I went there, she wasnt there, and even I can only drink a limited amount of tea. But this one day was a good day. She was there. When I entered the shop, she smiled broadly at me and said something like: Hello, good to see you. You havent been here for a long time, havent you? Dear me, I almost fainted. Crushes are not supposed to even notice you, do they? And this after 3 months.. I was surprised, I was happy for a while. And then, dancing to LLPJ, for the first of many times... maybe youll have a girl tonight... and you know what? I had. It was a good day. And for all those who are tired of picnic-entusiasm-posts, you can stop reading now, cos here comes the picnic-entusiasm part. Im not one for crowds, and even though it was a crowd of amazing sinisterines, first I was afraid, I was petrified.. but it soon went away. Friendly hello to those I talked talked to.. (funny how everyone asked me what my sig was.. "oh, you're the guy with Oscar Wilde and the tindersticks page!" I must confess that I'm doing the same thing, identifying people by their sigs more than by their names.. we should have worn them on a badge. Only Ailsa does not need such things. Ailsa's got her dufflecoat) The night after this was, erm, strange. I just remember sitting silent in a corner, busy being amazed; probably not very entertaining I was. Mirrorball, shopping cart.. it was all a dream, no? I hope it was ;-) bye Jan The Dark Site of the Moon: http://perso.club-internet.fr/jimgrund/index.html Tindersticks page: http://perso.club-internet.fr/jimgrund/tinderpage/tinder.html "Nobody ever listens to anyone else, and if you try for a while you'll see why" - Mignon McLaughlin +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the reborn Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail "sinister@majordomo.net".
