David S Mccarthy wrote, at the end of an otherwise perfectly respectable email: "Is anyone else starting to like channel 5 as well?" I'm sure you're a really nice bloke, 'n' all that, Dave, but do you really think this statement can ever be justified, even if every other Channel was playing a rerun of "Right Here, Right Now - the Oasis Rockumentary"? I live on the Greater London/Surrey border, and many people can't get C5, in the shadow of the North Downs. I however, as one other person on sinister can testify, live high on a hill, in full view of that glorious Crystal Palace transmitter. I get absolutely perfect quality pictures, and it still looks like a bunch of arse. Perhaps it would be better not to have good reception: At least then, you could stare at the fuzz and try to look for autostereograms. I now realise that I have not backed up this outburst with any factual content at all. So I give you "100% Gold". Taking it as your typical C5 programme may not be fair, but any channel that dares to show such pointless drivel should immediately be disconnected. Actually, on the plus side, I heard that they're thinking of increasing the power of the Crystal Palace signal, so that everyone can get it. The only thing is, they don't know whether it's going to interfere with television just across the English Channel. Please do, as it would certainly drive all the French mad, and they'd get out an EU directive to ban C5 from ever broadcasting again. Aaah, that's better... I feel much calmer now. jim-bob ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . This message was brought to you by the Sinister mailing list. .
