dear isle friends, saw looper last week in iowa city. a bit much sampling and electronics for a live show, but stuart was really quite something. talked to the boys (and chica) after the show as the lips played (with all the pomp and vanity of caligula at the maximus) and they were genuinely in awe of the flaming lips. i thought looper really played a better show, but you all must be familiar with that queer british sincerity and earnestness which makes them speak of and believe in their peers rather more lauditorily than we yanks. sorry to say but i went home and threw on the bowlie weekender and thought it much better fun. anyhow, just got back from california and must read up on the messages. brought back san diego sand for simon armitage with whom i'm studying for a poetry mfa from the writers' workshop. i've heard poetry's popular over there. funny. emailed erica mac about the state of things there. no reply but i'm carefully holding down my disappointment. looking to studying anglo-saxon on your island this summer. any suggestions? need an american friend? dearly, cody +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org.
