Sinister: Charleston, phones, SCAD, and me.
On the subject of Charleston and pretty phones, here I am. I do not live in Charleston, NC---I'm deeply sorry, but I will have to miss that picnic as I live on the opposite side of the United States of America. Isn't Charleston a dance? I think I've always wanted to learn how to. Also, SCAD. it's a lovely acronym, and the school sounds interesting. When you mentioned all the nifty girls it caught my eye---maybe the nifty-ness would rub off if i journeyed to Savannah, Georgia from my plaid perch here in California. To someone who said they have a pretty new phone (i pressed delete before I was aware of the sender), I wish I could call and cheer you up but these (insert swear word here) calls cost so much money and these (insert another swear word) phone companies rip everyone off. The world would be a much happier place, if you could just pick up the phone and dial and perhaps make a new friend from anywhere. Rather than the secluded calls that take place these days. they say i'm a dreamer, -Me* _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org. Hello! After recently graduating from nursery status, I figured I, too, should introduce myself. My name is Laura. I am a junior at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI (talk to ME about snow- and, anyone have a summer internship in marketing/advertising they'd like to tell me about??) I have liked B&S for, maybe, three? years now. I listen to a variety of music and love how b&s have that indescribable niche of listening time when one is just in the *mood* for b&s. Very foggy explanation there, but I'm sure most of you understand. I own 4 discs and one bootleg tape my friend got for me in Germany (which was claimed to be soundboard but I beg to differ) I love the community nature of this list already and look forward to some intelligent music discussions as well. sincerely, Laura ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ University of Michigan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ +---+ Brought to you by the undead Sinister mailing list +---+ To send to the list mail sinister@missprint.org. What about Donovan? I also believe Simon & Garfunkel are a good start from a poppier angle, but perhaps there are some folk historians who could find even more older obscure beginnings for it. twee orgins, this is like the millionth time i have posted on this. It might be best to go to twee.net. They have a bit with the history of twee, since the people who started the site, were heavily involved with the early days of twee and indiepop. These people were the same that had alot to do with the sarah(uk) and bus stop(usa) labels. It might also be helpful to find somebody who was on one of those labels since they generally know alot about the history of twee and indie pop. Generally from the people i know on bus stop simon and garfunkel is probably the earliest influence. Chris P. ===== www.mp3.com/sevenstars So many days pass lost in the skyline.
