Sinister: Beat, bodyparts and a funny feeling below...
<color><param>0100,0100,0100</param>Hi there There'll probably be loads of replied to born to end's letter about all stuff beat, but I replied before I saw them, so you'll have to excuse me if this post seems irrelevant... the reply was reterned to me... what's wrong with your email, born to end? Anyway, here's what I worte: </color>Since your last post to sinister seemed to depressed (or rather - you semed depressed - doh), I thought I'd write with a few thoughts. Unfortunately I'm not a gorgeous brown haired 6 foot lass come to sweep you away, I'm a rather plain boy, but your post got me thinking... Was the beat era really interesting? Or was it really dull... so dull that guys like Kerouac and Ken Kesey fucked off around America trying to think of something to do, and in doing so producing literature which gives the impression their generation was more interesting than ours... the point being, they made something happen, so don't worry how everyone around you is boring and just wants to be stoopid all the time; that's what makes you differnet. You are different, right? That's why you're called born to end, right? I can't remember 1990 - I was 9 at the time - but looking back, the music situation was as stupid as it ever has been - the Stone Roses ripped off left, right and centre to vcreate the absurd Baggy ideal of, er, baggy clothes and being stupid etc.. but wasn't it that, amoungst other things, that made Generation Terrorists stand out so vividly? I think I'm on a Manics vibe (?) at the moment since my uni put a ban on chatrooms, so I can't get into Simon's (manicsfans.cjb.net - the best!!!) anymore... but no-one on sinister seems all that interested... I think the lack of twee Manics kids appauls them... Anyway, I've gone on long enough. When you begin writing your book, send me a draught; I am a philosopher (well, a student, but by then I'll be a real philosopher - cool, huh?) and I can't write to save my life, so stop using excuses and make something happen... And just as i find out that it's been reterned, Michele Wagner replies with what seems to be the point exactly.... if you're only on the list so that you get post, then of coure you'll miss the point; I know I'm on it to meet people, to make plans to travel everywhere, to do so many things that I couldn't do alone... to get really inspired. Which is what the beat generation was all about... add some tweeness, and way-hay, its a B&S meetup. Incidentally, isn't the body parts page hotting up? Looking trought it certainly gave em the... er... (this line terminates here, since my private parts would like to stay, well, private parts for a while longer..!) Anyhow, love to you all, andd especially love to anyone considering gibving me that all-important crush vote... just ONE would be nice (hint fucking hint...)
