Figured perhaps they could record "Candle in the Wind" - this'd be a surefire number 1 in the current climate. Either that or plumb some other shit song about Diana just like Chris de Burgh's done and go for broke - looks like we'll be stuck with this at least well into next year.
Yeah, but it'll get even. There's already rumblings of a "Big Concert". Trouble is, we all know exactly who's going to be playing - hello Sting, Eric, Phil, Elton, George, Chris, Tina, Rod, Dave and Annie, Sir Paul, Sir Cliff, Sir Bob (need I go on? feeling sick already?) 'the kids' and anyone who knows what's down with 'pop culture' don't give a shit about those laughable fools. just blank it out and make your own culture, make your own media. the duke -- Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ Tangents On-Paper: PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@mail.zynet.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- . Actually, I thought Elton's performance at the funeral was very moving. I'm only sorry he didn't come on dressed up in his best Captain Fantastic outfit and big platform boots, sit down at his Pinball Wizard piano and do that thing he usually does when he looks at the audience as he plays. No, but in all seriousness, I do have a soft spot for Elton. He has got a few good songs, "Rocket Man" for instance. And Watford FC board meetings must have been a scream. Be careful about dissing the D woman in public, I did it on another list and got my hide well and truly tanned. Still can't care about her though... if you're afraid of being constructively critical then you may as well give up your life now. i mean, it scares me that we can be 'scared' into hiding our opinions or true feelings just because we know they do not concur with the media manipulated mass 'normality'. That sucks. Besides which it isn't the woman that's the issue here. This hasn't been about di, it's been about media and the way in which we use and allow media to direct our lives. Maybe people just find the fact that we are all to a greater or lesser extent on the end of puppet strings a harder truth to grieve about than the death of somone they never met. Sorry this has been off-topic, but hey, you know, rules are for breaking, man. the duke -- Tangents On-Line http://www.virtual-pc.com/tangent/ Tangents On-Paper: PO Box 102, Exeter, EX2 4YL, UK tangent@mail.zynet.co.uk ----------------------------------------------------------------------- .
