I don't know if this is really relevant to the discussion revolving around The Smiths and eighties excess, but it's a handy faclet to drop into conversation down at the indie night. For extra Morrissey points, pronounce Chic "chick", like Simon Groom on Blue Peter. Those of you wishing to check out Steve Cropper without defiling your indie purity are directed towards Big Star's version of "Femme Fatale" on the album "Sister Lovers". Mister Cropper contributes delicate guitar archipelagoes, and in the background you can just make out the sound of Ug being let loose on the pots and pans. However, it's not very representative of either Cropper or Ug. I thought Genevieve and Sarah's comments about Isobel's resemblance to a cold fish were a welcome antidote to all that stuff about her "darling voice", and not to be taken to heart. Mind you, I wouldn't like to be in their shoes if Isobel sets her old dog who is very much loved on them, or her brolley-wielding grandmother. Unless Genevieve unleashes her heaving breasts.
